Well known Catholic Youtuber Taylor Marshall has announced his plans to run for president of the United States of America. On his website www.taylormarshall.com, he recently stated -
"I am currently gathering people who are interested in shifting the political discussion toward natural law and Christian principles. By proposing a bid for the office of President of the United States, I am trying to rally Christians around a political vision that acknowledges Christ as King over our government, schools, families, and culture.
In the next few weeks, I will begin meeting with leaders, clergy, lawyers, and advisors to build a cultural platform in honor of “Christ the King.” "
Marshall who has a large following on Youtube will face a huge challenge in today's secular society but is aware and undeterred by the odds being stacked against him, a view which was portrayed in an interview this week with the editor of Crisis Magazine, Eric Sammons. Taylor Marshall said "Let’s be honest. If you say it’s a grift, even I recognize that the outcome is most likely failure, total and complete failure. Unless there’s some miracle of miracles, a supernatural intervention, there will be failure, but like Mother Teresa said, “We’re not called to be successful, we’re called to be faithful.” Again, if it moves our culture closer to Christ, for me, that’s worth it, and that’s why I’m running for President of the United States of America."
Even if he does not win, at the very least he might succeed in changing the discourse.
When commenting on the recent news Liz Yore of Lifesite news mentioned - "Marshall is running as a “forcing function,” or to bring attention to “real moral issues impacting the culture and the family to be raised for the first time ever, and to really be debated. And we’ve seen over the years, I think, that the culture as a whole, and certainly the culture in our Church, that there is a censoring, silencing, even a blackout of these important issues.”
“And so by choosing to go into the political boxing ring, I think Taylor is bringing with him some issues that he’s spoken about, certainly in his books, on his podcast, and now is trying to bring these issues to the popular culture as a whole,” she continued. “I think the popular culture can only benefit from a discussion of these issues.”
It is welcome news for Catholics across America and even further afield who are tired of seeing so called conservative politicians routinely compromise on important moral principals and betray their voter base. They can now look forward to seeing a candidate who looks set to challenge the evils of modern society. As for Taylor's campaign slogan, Eric Sammons asked him, "Is your slogan going to be Make America Christian again or something like that?"
Marshall replied - "No, because I honestly don’t believe America has been authentically Christian in the past. You can say that countries like France, the Roman Empire, Armenia, places that politically submitted to Christ were Christian, but America has never been a Christian nation. So to say, MACA, Make America Christian Again, I don’t think that that’s the right thing. My motto, my standard is just Christ is King. Christ is the King. He’s the King of all of humanity. He’s the King of kings and the Lord of lords, and whether we acknowledge His kingship or not, it doesn’t change it. Christ wants matrimony to be defined the way He and the Father and the Holy Spirit define matrimony. That’s in accordance with natural law as God embedded it in nature and in our human nature.
It’s also revealed in scripture, and it’s also rational and reasonable. I don’t think that we should be ashamed or afraid of that. We should be a vocal, convinced, powerful group of people, and we should be more bold than the alphabet soup contingent. Why would we be less zealous for Jesus and allow them to be more zealous for making your entire human identity based upon sexual activities? Why would we really be outdone by that?
Christ is King will be the motto of Taylor Marshall and is the motto of all Catholics around the world. The sooner society as a whole recognises Christ as King the sooner there will be order and peace in the world. May Taylor Marshall's campaign glorify our Catholic King.
Pope Pius XI - "This same doctrine of the Kingship of Christ which we have found in the Old Testament is even more clearly taught and confirmed in the New. The Archangel, announcing to the Virgin that she should bear a Son, says that "the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father, and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end."
